Hunter Buildings expands capability at Hunter Business Park

Hunter Buildings has officially commenced operations from its new facility at Hunter Business Park, consolidating its previous Thornton and Warabrook sites into one purpose-built base at Black Hill.

The move brings the business’ team, manufacturing capability and project delivery operations together in one location, creating greater efficiency and room for future growth.

A stronger base for operations

The 12,000sqm site includes more than 4,000sqm of undercover factory space, six overhead cranes and over 60 employees onsite.

Hunter Buildings manufactures around 4,000 tonnes of steel each year, with drafting, design, manufacturing and painting all completed in-house.

The move has also allowed the business to invest heavily in new technology and equipment, with processes such as cutting, drilling and materials handling now increasingly machine-led.

“Hunter Business Park was the right choice for Hunter Buildings, as it met both our current and future business needs. The size of the site allowed us to consolidate from two locations into one, while the estate’s power capacity gives us confidence that future expansion won’t be an issue.”

Connectivity that supports project delivery

Location was a major factor in Hunter Buildings’ decision to move to Hunter Business Park.

Around half of the business’ work is based in Sydney, making direct access to the M1 an important advantage, while the wider road network supports efficient movement across Newcastle, the Hunter and regional NSW.

The facility operates up to 21 hours a day and supports projects across industrial, commercial and infrastructure sectors, including work associated with Sydney Fish Market, John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle Airport and Williamtown.

“Connectivity was also an important factor for us. Being close to the M1 and Hunter Expressway makes travel in any direction easy and supports the work we deliver across the region and beyond.”

Built for the next stage of growth

Hunter Buildings moved into the new facility in March 2026 following an eight-month build and has since become fully operational.

The business is also continuing to expand its capabilities, including growth into the rural sector across NSW, Queensland and Victoria.

With around 90% of its work coming from repeat customers, the new Hunter Business Park facility gives Hunter Buildings the space, technology and connectivity to continue servicing established clients while taking on new opportunities.

For Hunter Buildings, the move to Hunter Business Park has created more than a new address. It has provided a stronger operational base, better connectivity and greater capacity to support the next stage of the business.

“Graham and the team at Hunter Land were across all aspects of the development and made the transition to the estate seamless. We look forward to working with them on other projects in the future.”
